BCA and Chamber

Soon after the fires, the Chamber was invited to a Federal Government Round Table meeting to discuss a way forward for all the affected communities.

The meeting was a collaboration between a new National Bushfire Recovery team (headed up by Sir Peter Cosgrove) and involved heavy involvement from the Business Council of Australia (BCA).

A number of follow up meetings were held before a group from the BCA met with Chamber Executives to discuss ways to help our business community recover from the ordeal of the fires. Chamber President Peter Whiter and Vice President Jenny Robb were presented with several $500 vouchers to be provided to local businesses. The vouchers were offered to help businesses with recovery through seeking advice from professionals such as accountants, legal advisors and/or marketers as it was recognised the fires had had a very deep impact on many.  

The Chamber Executive has since distributed the vouchers to a number of businesses who had identified as being heavily impacted and the feedback has been extremely positive.

The BCA are continuing to work with our Chamber and others in the Bega Valley and Eurobodalla Shires on a number of initiatives tailored to the particular area. 

We are extremely grateful for this assistance and will continue to support affected businesses and seek further funding as the recovery process rolls out.
