2019 is off to a great start

Eden businesses are reporting a record-breaking summer season so far with many saying it’s the best they’ve ever had. Tourism oriented business owners seemed to be working 24/7 over January with a huge influx of visitors to town.

Cafes were full, tours bookings were up, the weather was wonderful and there was a sense of pride and confidence brimming throughout town.

The Chamber is keen to get back to the business of encouraging collaboration, networking and partnerships as we face the ever-present challenge of seasonality.

Feel free to come to our AGM on Monday 11th March 2019 from 6pm at the Fishermen’s Club to put forward your own ideas. All are welcome.

Financial Health. Helping you achieve your goals.

Financial Health. Helping you achieve your goals.

We share your goal.

Financial Health – A term used to describe the state of one’s personal financial situation. There are many dimensions to financial health, including the amount of savings you have, how much you are setting away for retirement and how much of your income you are spending on fixed or non-discretionary expenses. From a Business Perspective, with June 30 fast approaching, now is the time to consider actions that have to be in place prior to that date that will impact on your end of financial year taxation position.

If one of your resolutions is to improve your Businesses financial situation this year then this event is for you.

IMB Eden shares your resolution and is very excited to have IMB Bank’s National Manager Commercial Lending & Business Banking Mr Terry Widdicombe to present on how to prepare for a Business loan interview, SME finance update and Asset acquisition prior to June 30.

Digital Audits – with Andy Willis

Your shortcut to Tools & Technology

The minefield of the digital world is something we’ve all struggled with – but it’s here to stay so we may as well learn how it works.

Thank you to our guest presenter Andy Willis, from WFA Life (Working from Anywhere)Andy has taken the Bega Valley by storm in the last few years and shown many small businesses how to get online with confidence.

“Last year I was able to leave a very busy cafe and travel in Europe for 3 months – whilst keeping an eye on the business. All thanks to Andy. I’d highly recommend ANY business to go through this FREE ditigal audit and see how to get some of your time back for you!” [Karen – Sprout Eden)

  • Don’t have a website and unsure how to start? Ask Andy
  • Don’t use email because it looks too technical? Ask Andy
  • Facebook! What is it – do I need it? Ask Andy
  • Feel like you’re ‘too old’ to learn this stuff? You’re not. It’s no harder than dialling a phone. You just need someone to help you.

WHO Attended:      Anyone/everyone – members and non-members. Thank you to everyone who came along.

We will have Andy  back for follow up sessions on his return from France later in the year. Stay Tuned!

Gear up at the Cruise Eden Workshop on Tuesday 27th Sept.

The 2016/17 Cruise Eden is fast approaching.

Is our town ready? Is your business ready?

“My business is not a tourism business” – okay, we get that. But if we are to maximise cruise visits (remember – this is up to 2,000 people per day!), we need to build on our reputation as a welcoming community – so every business is a tourism business on cruise days 🙂

This Workshop is for everyone who wants Eden and the surrounding district to benefit as much as possible from this regular influx of visitors.

Come along to the Workshop on Tuesday 27th September from 5:30pm at the Eden Fishermen’s Club.

See below for Agenda, Workshop Notes and other important information.  (Just click on the name to open the document).

If you have any questions, just email Cruise Eden Co-Ordinator Natalie Godward at: cruise@sapphirecoast.com.au or call her on 02 6495 7031.

Eden Futures Project

We had a very worthwhile presentation at last night’s General Meeting.  Paul Morris, former Principal of Eden High is now a consultant working on a Department of Family & Community Services (FACS) Project in Eden called the ‘Eden Futures Project’.  FACS is working with Bega Valley Shire Council, local schools, community organisations and businesses to support social housing residents and broader communities to create a positive future of social and economic wellbeing in Eden.

The priorities for this work are:

– Engagement and capacity building – Education and employment
– A positive community – A community hub
– Bringing people together – Transport

The first part of this work is the development of an Education, Training and
Employment Plan for Eden.

YOU’RE INVITED TO A COMMUNITY WORKSHOP on Wednesday 21st September 2016 –

12.45 – 3pm (light lunch included) OR 5.45 – 8pm (light dinner included) at the RSL Memorial Hall, Calle Calle St, Eden

Come along and share your ideas on the Eden Education, Training and Employment Plan

Please come along to either session, both will be the same.

The Chamber is committed to helping our community lift itself in socio-economic terms and is therefore very committed to helping with this project.

Paul Morris can be contacted on phone 0459422873.
